Consult with clients to provide expertise across a broad range of strategic, creative, and technical user interface design strategies for Web-based applications and software. Collaborate extensively with clients and development teams using agile design principles to create user-friendly interface designs, including navigation, layout, graphics, and content. Plan, track, and direct all aspects of projects, from initial analysis and requirements definition through design, testing, and customer satisfaction. Design and deliver status reports to team members, management, and users.
Facilitate JAD sessions with customers and users to determine needs. Develop use cases to support human factors, interactivity and iterative design procedures. Design prototype and product web and human interface designs, utilizing Visio, Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, HTML/DHTML/XHTML, and JavaScript. Plan and create HTML pages and JavaScript code. Key Projects and Achievements:
October 2007 – Present — Interaction Designer (IxD), Software Technology Group. Leading development of a web application for a major international client for internal use. Conduct client meetings, contextual inquiry, and user surveys and derive business requirements from existing application. Create high-resolution prototypes in XHTML/CSS for approvals and development, working directly with DBAs and Java developers to implement and test designs.
November 2006 – October 2007 — Human Factors Engineer, Microsoft Consulting (through Resolute). Chosen to lead design of new user-friendly interface designs and work with development team on PriceWaterhouseCooper's rich client application. Also worked on two applications directly with Microsoft Corp. in Redmond.
April 2006 – October 2006 — Human Factors Engineer, Hewlett Packard. Chosen to lead design of new software user interface designs and work with development teams to improve usability of existing designs for Hewlett Packard's important printer driver software products and other related applications. Created static and dynamic prototypes, worked with team members to resolve issues and produce workable designs to high company standards.
January 2006 – March 2006 — User Interface designer and Information Architect, Aztec Pacific, Inc. Chosen to lead development of time management software UI, web application UI and direct technologies for startup software company. Worked with offshore development team to produce user-friendly time-management software and customer service web applications in Java and PHP
May 2005 – December 2005 — Chosen by BearingPoint to lead UI team of six in the design of San Diego County’s important J2EE-based Integrated Property Tax System. Worked with County and BearingPoint’s engineers and SMEs to create early product requirements. Wrote, designed, and conducted testing for county users to help define critical UI design and create an outstanding user experience. Employed iterative principles in design to improve final product. With UI team, wrote general design and detail design documents, use cases, and UI specifications. Led JADs and Prototyping sessions with BearingPoint and County people to capture and apply requirements. Delivered documentation and prototypes on truncated schedules.
January 2005 – April 2005 — Chosen by CalAmp as UI Designer/UE tester for @hp Redesign, Hewlett Packard Intranet and Approval Central, a new major component of the Intranet. Wrote test scripts and conducted UE testing in HP’s international employee group, and created prototypes in Illustrator and HTML.
December 2004 – January 2005 — Avanade Consulting/Pacific Life, Newport Beach. As UI Designer, created visual design of interface per corporate visual standards manual and wrote UI Specification documents for WinForm and WebForm internal systems. Created UI prototypes and assisted in storyboards and UI documentation. Led JAD sessions and conducted UI research with internal users and non-users.
June 2004 – November 2004 — NuOrbix/Deloitte Recruited by Deloitte Consulting as UI Track Lead to assist in designing a user-friendly, intuitive interface for the California Judicial Council’s new web-based Case Management System using JSP to Oracle dB. Interfaced extensively with Court clients to determine business requirements, heuristics, and usability. Created UI prototypes and Section 508 compliant pages. Trained team members on Section 508 compatibility issues.
January 2004 – June 2004 — Chosen to lead all efforts to create interface design strategy for ATMARKET Inc.’s new SuperConfigurator software product. Collaborated with management to define needs and developed use cases and requirements documentation. Designed and launched corporate Website to introduce company’s product to car dealerships. Converted requirements into simple and beautiful interface designs to facilitate user experience and product acceptance with both retailers and consumer users. Created corporate marketing collateral, including logo and Website illustrations. Set-up and administered infrastructure to support internal operations, including server and database.
October 2003 – December 2003 Selected by Sogeti Inc. to spearhead efforts to design and produce Windows GUI and web GUI interfaces for Washington Mutual Bank’s new loan scoring software and loan scoring web application. Created visual designs for reports and screens for both applications. Collaborated extensively with programmers and business teams to ensure on-time deployment of applications and simple, easy-to-use interface to eliminate training needs for Wamu employees.
October 1998 – March 1999 — Brought in as a Principal Consultant by Vancouver Company to design the official Expo 2000 Canadian Government Website for the millennium world’s fair in Germany and create its user-friendly user interface. Designed screens and user interfaces in 3 languages, German, French, and English.

February 1999 – March 2001 — Provided strategic and tactical leadership to ensure successful creation of customized interface designs for company’s interactive TV software. Interfaced extensively with global Cable TV Providers to define interface strategy. Interviewed customers and users to define interface structure and overall user experience. Created and presented conceptual UI prototypes and mockups to clients for approval. Coordinated usability tests with clients. Documented and analyzed reports.
