S. Robert Blair, companion of the
Order of Canada, Chairman of Blair Industries Ltd. and former Chief Executive
Officer of NOVA Corporation, has been appointed Canada's Commissioner General
to Expo 2000.
Canada’s Deputy Commissioner General
Deputy Commissioner General, Carmen Sylvain, brings years of Expo experience to this position. Expo 2000 is her third international exposition and her second as Deputy Commissioner General. She held this position during Canada’s participation at Expo ‘98 in Lisbon, Portugal.
As Director of Canadian Heritage’s International Events and Promotion Directorate, Ms. Sylvain has been instrumental in planning and implementing Canada’s participation at Expo 2000 as well as at Expo ‘98 in Lisbon and Expo ‘93 in Korea. Since 1994, she has represented Canada in the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE), and was re-elected Vice-President of the Executive Commission of the Bureau in 1999.
