Instructions

In order for the look and feel to be as close as possible to the County Experience, please follow these instructions:
  Notes:

(1)  USE Internet Explorer.

(2)  Turn off any extra browser bars at the top; show ONLY the MENU bar, ONE ROW of icons, and the address bar.

(3)  Turn on the STATUS BAR if it's off. The bottom of your browser should now have about a 1/4" border with room for text messages. (VIEW, STATUS BAR)

(4)  Use text size "MEDIUM" (VIEW, TEXT SIZE)

(5)  Set Your Desktop to Look Like Windows® 2000 First, right click anywhere on your desktop. Click PROPERTIES, then select THEMES. Open the Theme pull-down and select Windows Classic. You can easily change it back. If you use ClearType, turn it on. If not, get it from Microsoft, install it, and turn it on, your screens will look better.

(6)  Properly Size Your Browser Window. Most of us have screens bigger than the county standard target resolution of 1024x768. If that's the case with your screen, first MAXIMIZE your screen, then click Resize Window. You'll get a browser window that looks maximized, but that is smaller than your monitor
window!

(7)  Most laptops are notoriously wrong in the colors used in the HTML interface; The background may look pink, for instance, but it is actually 255.240.221 (RGB), hex #FF0DD. It is apparent from the RGB numbers that the color is quite light, and that red is lightest at 255 and green is lighter than blue. Those values give it a warm tan color on the monitors the county uses most; Dell flat panel.

Then, click this link to go back to the first page or use FILE, OPEN in the browser to load index.html.

The HTML pages are designed to "click-through" and do not really have a database behind them. This being the case, much interactivity that might be expected from the fully developed system will not be here. Here is a list of the interactivity:
  • Login page appears functional; any login and password will work.
  • MyHome, FindIt, and GoTo work. MyHome links to the first page (index.html) and the other two have fly-out sticky menus -- no pages under the menu links but otherwise functional
  • Calendar Icon is functional, and the calendar will scroll by year or by month as far back and as far forward as you care to click. Clicking on any date inserts the proper date into the form.
  • Auto-advance in the Parcel number field works.
  • The search form is properly coded so the CLEAR button works. Clicking SEARCH does not search, but navigates to the next page to simulate searching.
  • There is no content behind the document links in the search results page.
  • Selecting the "select all" checkbox selects all the check boxes anywhere in the simulation. Click the lower right DETAILS button to navigate to the PROPERTY DETAILS page.
  • In the property header, ALERTS and NOTES links work. Notes allows scrolling amongst the four notes, demonstrating how VCR buttons work.
  • From the Notes pop-up, ADD NEW NOTE appears to work. SAVE and PRINT buttons do nothing, NEW clears the form, CANCEL and SAVE AND CLOSE close the window.
  • There are no additional owners behind the "2" after the owner's name in the property header.
  • The tabs all work, but there is content only behind the VIEW PARCEL MAP and VIEW FULL LEGAL DESCRIPTION links in the SUMMARY tab.
  • Rollovers on the column headers light up, but do not simulate sorting.
  • The NEW and the EDIT buttons at the bottom of the page do not lead to more content.
  • Breadcrumb links on the pages work. The QUICK FIND link navigates to the first page of the set; the PREFERENCES, HELP do not lead to pages. LOGOUT links to LOGIN PAGE.
